In 1873 and 1874, Edgar Degas (1834-1917) carried out several preparatory studies of "dancer adjusting her slipper". It is kept at the MET (Metropolitan Museum of Art), in New York. It is on a pink paper (now faded), in pencil enhanced with black and white chalk, that Degas works the pose of this dancer.
