We all know how important sleep is. What we are actually doing when we sleep we still don’t know but it’s vital to our health and wellbeing.

Until quite recently wool was an integral part of the economy of these islands. Wool made merchants rich and others warm. It protected us from the elements and it protected the sheep itself in this rainy changeable climate. The shearing season was vital because the sheep became too hot if he or she kept their heavy winter coat. And it was a gift to us to give US a heavy winter coat, spawning carding and spinning and weaving and eventually clothes design.

Today it costs the farmer more to shear their sheep than they receive for the fleece. This is an upside down world. Michael Burke an organic sheep farmer over in the West (a Scientist with a background in the wellbeing sector) has come up with a small but interesting idea. To use his wool (professionally washed) to make pillows in Ireland.

The benefits are myriad. This Wool is natural & Irish, is naturally anti dustmite because of the construction of the hair, unlike foams & plastics it will disintegrate back into the earth, unlike feathers it will not kill an animal or annoy the asthmatic, hypo-allergenic, pillow made in a factory here that dates back to 1830.

As well as one of Mike’s pillows you will receive a Night Night Sleep Tight spray made in Wexford by herbalist Phil Walsh, a Lavender & Linseed eye pillow covered in soft and pretty Liberty of London Silk (A Russborough Exclusive also handmade in Ireland), an extremely quirky book called This Book will send you to Sleep (pages of lists and boring stories that you read at bedtime to calm the mind) and a pack of bedtime tea.
