fat-tomato-blackcurrant-butter
Fat Tomato Blackcurrant Butter

This blackcurrant butter captures the essence of Wexford's soft fruit heritage in a deeply savoury-sweet preserve. Fat Tomato's blend draws from two heritage varieties grown on their Southeast farm, the sweeter Triton and the sharper Ben Tinania, infused with Miss Jessopp's Upright rosemary for subtle herbal depth and wild alexander seeds that add soft floral and aniseed notes. A layer of warmth comes from their own French oak–aged natural wine, made through wild yeast fermentation, lending gentle woody spice to the velvety fruit butter.

Fruit butter sits gracefully between jam and purée, slowly reduced to concentrate flavour into something smooth and richly satisfying. Here, that tradition meets thoughtful complexity - bold, fragrant, and quietly sophisticated rather than loudly sweet.

Spread generously on hot buttered toast, soda bread, or warm scones. Swirl through yoghurt or porridge, spoon over pancakes or rice pudding. It finds equal home on a cheeseboard alongside sharp Irish cheddar or creamy St. Tola goat's cheese, and pairs beautifully glazing roast pork, chicken, or ham.

Presented in a 165g glass WECK jar as a Gift Box Edition, wrapped in illustrated paper inspired by the Wexford food story and finished in signature black box, a considered gift that speaks to thoughtful taste.

Store in a cool, dark place. Once open, store in the fridge and use within six months.

165g
