About Our Shop

Russborough is owned and managed by a charitable foundation, and it depends on its fundraising and activities to survive. Part of my involvement has been to set up a new shop in the basement and in the statuesque inner Colonnade here. And this online offshoot is so you can buy from us and support the Foundation from anywhere in the world - if you're kind enough to think that the range is good.

The themes for the shop are inspired by life both upstairs and below stairs in a Great House. Beautiful textiles, colours that sing. One of the guiding lights has been as little plastic as possible. Hence, baskets woven from sustainably farmed materials; clay pottery, metal, terracotta, wool - all materials that will disintegrate if they found their way into the ocean. Or got lost in your garden. Rucksacks each made from 14 plastic bottles cleared from beaches. For us, this is about thinking what is in our homes and what part we can play in looking after our planet.

We worked with Irish makers and artisan food suppliers where possible. The gorgeous furnishing here inspired cushions and beautiful stationary. Art is a powerful influence, as is the dramatic, elegant architecture of what's called Ireland's most beautiful Georgian house. Drawing from nature. Sparked by creativity. Meanwhile, all the money spent in Russborough is ultimately put towards looking after the House, its Collections and the Parklands. We hope you can visit us too to enjoy first hand.
